Good morning and happy March to you! I’m still in disbelief that yet another month has passed. With that said, it’s been 4 months on the blog as well, and I can’t believe how far it’s come so a huge thank you to those who have made this possible so far!
This week I wanted to start a discussion about Argan oil, a popular ingredient which has been getting plenty of attention lately. So… what’s the hype?
Argan oil, also known as Moroccan oil, is extracted from the Argan nuts native to Morocco. This incredible little fruit is packed with Vitamin E and antioxidants which give it properties that are very beneficial for the skin and hair. In addition, Argan is rich in Vitamin A, Omega-6 fatty acids, and linoleic acids. The combination of all these components give the oil anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and moisturizing properties which are suitable for treating acne, minor skin infections and burns and promoting cell production which is useful for treating stretch marks, scars, and nourishing hair. The versatility of this rich oil, often referred to as liquid gold, has made it a highly desirable ingredient in skin and hair care. That being said, here are five products which contain Argan oil and my thoughts on them.
First up, we have the epitome of Argan oil itself, Josie Maran’s 100% Pure Argan Oil Light.
This product is phenomenal for moisturizing the skin. The formula is light as the name suggests, and absorbs into the skin well. When used, I see a noticeable difference in the fading of hyper-pigmentation and old acne scars I have. However, I have not noticed any aid in active acne, which I suspect may have to do with the “light” formulation.
Next up, I have this mini trio of products from The Body Shop. It was a limited edition, but here is a close substitute.
I got these minis as a Christmas gift from my brother and sister. (Shoutout to you guys, you da real mvps!)
The whipped body butter is by far my favorite. It has that classic Body Shop formula that is super nourishing with the added benefits of the Argan oil. The scent is quite strong, but not overwhelming. It simply smells of pure Argan oil. My skin is left feeling moisturized and not greasy, as well.
The scrub is alright, it does it’s duty and is gentle enough for everyday use. I will admit it’s a bit too gentle and does not necessarily have the grit that I personally like my scrubs to have. Nonetheless, a good product.
The shower gel is very basic but effective. It does not overly dry out my skin which I really appreciate, since I find that to be a problem with some other shower gels. The scent is also quite fragrant, but again, not overwhelming.
Finally, I have these popular products (okay, I’m kind of cheating, but they’re just about one unit, right?). These are the OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco shampoo and conditioner.
These hair products are part of my staple hair care regimen, particularly the conditioner.
Once again, the shampoo is essentially basic and effective enough to do its job. It does have those minimal bonuses of being slightly more moisturizing than the average shampoo, but is still pretty standard.
The conditioner is one of the best drugstore buys. It’s a fair price for a good quality product The Argan oil benefits are fantastic and extremely evident in this conditioner. My hair is always left feeling super silky after using this product.
If you are interested in ordering these products, please consider ordering them online from Target using the links above. I would really appreciate your support for this affiliation!
Bonus product, I know that I’ve mentioned this in my 2014 favorites before, but I find it to be super unique, especially for what it is. This is the Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable Hairspray with Argan Oil.
When it comes to hairspray, I find it difficult to find a formula which doesn’t leave my hair with that classic “crunchy” feeling that is often associated with hairspray. The Argan oil in this gives the formula a sleek and shiny finish to the hair and is absolutely crunch free. Also, this product is $8 off right now if you are interested, use the link above.
If you are interested in learning about more uses and benefits of Argan oil, this article is a good read.
Well, that’s a wrap! I hope you enjoyed this post! Is it just me, or is there some reason that all Argan oil products have blue packaging? Anyways, comment below if you have an idea and I’ll catch you later!
All my love,
Megan
